Ms.
Adshade received her massage therapy diploma from Kine-Concept
Institute, New Brunswick in 2001 and worked for 2 years as
a student massage therapist until graduation when she became
a registered massage therapist. Alicia then worked for a spa,
when she realized she wanted to work for herself and enjoy
the benefits of being her own boss.
Alicia became a massage therapist after understanding the
stress that are in people’s lives today and wanted to
be able to give them an alternate way to relieve stress which
can lead to numerous medical conditions.
She
came to CBDC Cumberland in 2004 seeking financial assistance
to open her own Massage Therapy business. She started developing
her business plan by researching the area, her target market
by conducting an extensive survey, cash flow and competition.
After hard work and determination she was approved for funding
to open her business on $7,500.00 for equipment purchases,
leasehold improvements, start up costs and working capital.
Over
the past year and a half Alicia has expanded her services
by offering more services to her customers. Through utilizing
the Youth Seed Training Allowance she has been able to refresh
her bookkeeping skills, attend workshops on advertising and
financial management and received her CranioSacral Therapy
I course.
In
the past year Alicia and her family have re-located to Amherst,
got married and continues to update and expand her services
to her customers. She is extremely hard working and dedicated
to her clientele.
Body
Wisdom Massage Therapy has become a successful business in
a short time which shows the owners appreciation to her customers.
Alicia’s hopes for the future is to expand her business
to include other services to become a spa.
