        ver the years, CBDCs (in partnership with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) have invested in the dreams and ideas of thousands of entrepreneurs - offering financial help and advice, counseling, and planning to their clients.

        CBDCs offer customized financing under flexible terms to individuals and small or medium sized businesses throughout rural Nova Scotia. Anyone seeking to start or purchase a new or existing business can apply for a loan up to a maximum of $150,000.

   To be approved for a loan, individuals must meet the following criteria:
  • Applicants must show that their business idea has reasonable chance of viability by demonstrating that a demand exists for its product and/or service.
  • They must have related skills and an acceptable credit history.
  • They must be willing to invest, or have already invested, a reasonable amount of personal equity into the business.
  • Applicants must provide acceptable security for the loan and an employment position must be created or maintained.
   To apply, individuals must provide a business plan that includes the following:
  • A description of the business.
  • A history of the business, including past financial statements(for the existing business).
  • Details about the individuals relevant qualifications, such as experience or training.
  • A marketing strategy.
  • Financial Projections.
